Mr. Nikhil Wagle I congratulate Microsoft for this highly useful Marathi software. All those who suffer from the fear of English – students, farmers, workers – will benefit while using computer. Technology must speak the language of the people if it has to reach unto the last. It is necessary that such software are created in Indian languages to make the languages more effective and for common man to benefit. Multiple keyboards, charts and graphs in Marathi in Microsoft Office Excel 2003, e-mail in Marathi and availability of database of names and addresses in Marathi through Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 are some of the most useful features of Microsoft Office 2003 Marathi. Exchanging text and database in Marathi across different applications will be simpler now. While the software will help small and medium enterprises to easily create applications in Marathi through Microsoft Office Access 2003 and smart documents using Microsoft Office Word 2003, there could be many obstacles as far as standardisation in Marathi on computer is concerned. Personally, I would like to see further simplification of the language of this software. It will ensure that real benefits of Microsoft Office 2003 Marathi reach the people of Maharashtra. As a journalist, I would definitely like to take this software to the people. |
